Dog-ice recipes

To provide more cooing down to our beagles on the hot summer days, we often spoil them with doggy-ice. Concerning the cold products, please test carefully how well your dog tolerates the cold ice in his stomach. Please pay attention to the possible intolerance (chicken, dairy products) - and select accordingly the right recipes, or modify them up to your dog's taste.

"Basic" - the ice-block
The simplest variety actually can't be called ice-cream.

What do you need?
         - Plastic tray (or empty and cleaned yogurt cups)
         - Water
         - Treats, chewies, dog biscuits, carrots, apples - whatever you have by hand and your dog likes...

How to prepare?
Fill the plastic tray with pure water, and treats, chewies, etc. - then freeze. If deep frozen, just put in the water bowl or into the doggy pool.

"Baby food" - ice-cream

What do you need?
         - Canned baby food (check the ingredients especially for added sugar)
         - Water
         - Ice mold or yogurt cups

How to prepare?
Open the baby food can, pour into a large mixing bowl, thin with about 200 ml water - pour into the molds, let it freeze - ready!

Tip of our beagles: the favorite varieties in our house are the varieties wild salmon (and broccoli cream), beef (with vegetables), early carrots, pumpkin, apple and banana.

"Broth and vegetables" ice

We often like to cook our dogs chicken/beef broth/soup, this is not only popular on cold winter days, they love to eat it also in the summer in ice cube shape.

What do you need?
          - Broth (cooked without salt and other spices from the best meat, without bones)
          - Vegetables (peas, baby carrots...)
          - Ice mold

How to prepare?
Pour out-cooled broth into the ice molds, put into the ice cubes a few vegetables, freeze it. Give to the normal dog food 2-3 cubes.

"Smoothie" ice-cream

What do you need?
          - Natural yogurt
          - Fruits (apples, banana, berries, carrots, sweet pumpkin ...)
          - Honey
          - Yogurt cups

How to prepare?
Puree the fruit pulp, mix with yogurt and honey, make portions in the yogurt cups and freeze it! A hit on hot summer days!

Tip of our beagles: Fruit yogurt as a base tastes even better!

"Oh So Stinky" - Ice

 What do you need?
          - Natural yogurt
          - Tuna or sardines in oil
          - Yogurt cups

How to prepare?
Mix the fish in oil with yogurt, freeze the portions. As the name suggests, caution, feed this variety better outdoors!

"KONG served cold!"

For a longer joy (possibly outdoors or in a place where you can easily clean up) we can also freeze the Kong and its contents.
What do you need?
          - KONG (size/strength shall fit your dog)
          - Filling suitable for freezing: banana & yogurt (with honey), peanut butter, peas with broth, liver paste, canned food, etc...

How to prepare?
Put the Kong in a cup, fill and freeze! Be creative and insert liquid layers and hard ingredients.
